Raas Leela

In Rasleela or Krishna Leela, the activities of the young and child Krishna are staged. Gopi’s i.e. Brijbalas were engrossed in the charming style of Krishna.

The magic of Kanha’s Murali was such that the Gopi’s used to lose their beauty. The mischief of Kanha’s friends used to start as soon as the Gopi’s got drunk. Stealing butter, breaking pots, stealing the clothes of Gopi’s, leaving the animals far away from the village for grazing were the main mischiefs, on which the whole Vrindavan was fascinated.

On the occasion of Janmashtami, Rasleela or Krishna Leela is played by tying all these tricks of Kanha in a thread, that is, giving them a dramatic form. That’s why in the preparations for Janmashtami, the joy of Shri Krishna’s Rasleela is not limited to Mathura, Vrindavan and spreads all over the country.
